Are you ready to hit the road with your canine companion? 🙂

If you’re a proud pet parent or a prospective one, planning a road trip with your dog means one or more of the following:

  • You are an avid traveler and want to share your love of travel and explore more places with your furry friend
  • You love exploring your own city and want to familiarize your dog with his surroundings
  • You own a vacation home and decide to bring your dog along

All of the above situations are potentially dangerous if you’re traveling with your dog. You don’t want to put your pet in danger, and you certainly don’t want to get into an accident because you were taking a picture of your dog in front of the White House instead of paying attention to oncoming traffic. Luckily, you can still have all the fun of travel and get plenty of stops along the way if you follow my tips.

Here’s the ultimate dog friendly road trip checklist:

  • Your dog is up to date on his shots (Rabies and Distemper are a must)
  • Your dog wears a seatbelt in the car. I recommend either the Snoozer Lookout seatbelt or the Pawvelation seatbelt
